1972 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Long Wheel Base saloon with division, built for Lew Grade (later Lord Grade) the British media tycoon and impresario. reg. no. MNH 104K, chassis no. LRH124423
This rare Rolls-Royce Long Wheel Base Silver Shadow is fitted with many additional options, including an electric division, Everflex covered roof with reduced rear window, dual air conditioning systems front and rear (particularly useful for extracting the smoke from Lew Grade's famous cigars). It is finished in Shell Grey with blue Everflex roof, dark blue hide upholstery and blue carpets. Lord Lew Grade (1906-1998) was the first TV Mogul, brother to Lord Bernard Delfort, Uncle to Lord Michael Grade, former BBC and ITV boss. He was founder of ATV, the largest ITV Franchise, and producer of numerous hits including Thunderbirds and The Muppet Show. This car would have been a familiar sight around London in the 1970's and would have conveyed many famous people of the day. It was sold to the second owner in 1976 and retained by the family until 2017 having been much loved and used for events like Royal Ascot, Henley Regatta, and Polo matches. It has a large history file which supports the current mileage of approx 83,141 miles. It had a bare metal re-spray in 2003 and the woodwork was re-polished in 2006. The file includes numerous invoices, copy of the original log book, order forms, old MOTs, current and old V5 documents. The car is running and driving but we are informed it has a gearbox drive issue and will require a gearbox overhaul (we are informed a replacement unit is approx £1500 plus fitting). A very worthy project for an enthusiast with huge potential. (Subject to 12% buyers' premium inclusive of VAT).
