Included in the 219 lots, are two rare and scandalous handwritten love letters written by H.R.H. Edward Prince of Wales, (later Kind Edward VIII & Duke of Windsor), to his married long term mistress Mrs Freda Dudley Ward in which he shows his utter contempt for his position and duty and his selfish hedonistic nature.
James Grinter, the Managing Director said ‘These two letters demonstrate that Edward’s personality and character were totally unsuitable for the role he was destined to inherit. These give a rare insight into his true personality and we as a nation were fortunate that he abdicated before the beginning of the war’.
They are expected to attract worldwide interest.
