Our Homes and Interiors auctions usually comprise 700-1000 lots, with an eclectic mix of antique and general household items of furniture & furnishings, pictures, ceramics and glass, garden statuary, vehicles and innumerable other categories. View our departments page to view the full list. Catalogues are published on our website fully illustrated and bids can be made on the website or by phone sight unseen, although viewing is always advisable. Our Homes and Interiors auctions have a range of items and estimates which ensure that whether you are a collector or furnishing a new home you will be certain to find something to tempt you.

Homes and Interiors sales are a great introduction to clients who are unfamiliar with auctions and our sale days are a great day out even if you’re an unsuccessful bidder, a café service operates during the auction and we have extensive parking with disabled access. Bids can either be made in person or we can bid on your behalf. Successful bidders then have until the end week to pay for and collect their purchases.

Homes and Interiors auction can offer the opportunity to sell a range of household antiques and furnishings which may not be appropriate for a Fine Antiques sale. When dealing with a entire house contents or estate we would typically arrange delivery of all items together to our salerooms and from there include items in the most appropriate sales, storing any items for future sales at no charge to our vendors. We can also assist with a full house clearance service and disposal of those items which have no auction value. For more details please contact our office.

Specialist Collectors'

We hold a quarterly Collectors’ sale dedicated to niche antique and vintage collecting fields which fall outside the usual categories of our Fine Art and Antiques sales. These well established auctions include upwards of 2000 lots sold over three days and incorporate both the Coins and Militaria sales.

Our collectors’ sales have been running for many years and are an eagerly awaited fixture on the auction calendar. These sales are managed by Lewis Rabett, an experienced valuer who has a specialist knowledge of military, automobilia and a range of other items. Lewis works with our team of cataloguers, together with a stable of specialist consultants to ensure that we can accurately identify and catalogue across the spectrum of collecting disciplines which these unique auctions encompass. These sales are published and sold live online - extensive cataloguing and photography ensures that online bidders have the confidence to engage without requiring first-hand inspection. These sales receive a considerable international online audience as well as high attendances by a U.K. following of collectables enthusiasts and dealers.

Our Collectors’ sales frequently feature extensive individual collections. Recent sales have included a exceptional collection of vintage slot machines, an extensive library of modern first edition books, and in 2017 we sold one of the finest collections of antique pipes to come to auction, a collection which totalled over £75,000. Our team work tirelessly to ensure collections receive maximum exposure and our auctions can provide a lasting legacy and permanent record of significant collections.

Our Collectors’ sales typically close for entries around two weeks before the sale date. We are happy to advise on items which you may be considered for these sales either in our salerooms or at your home. Click here to read more about our Collectables department.

Classic Cars

We hold Classic Car and Automobilia auctions 4 times a year, and these encompass everything from parts and garage accessories, to vehicles from emerging modern classics to pre-war cars and from tractors to commercial vehicles.

Over recent years we have been very privileged to handle the sale of some particularly interesting vehicles, these include in June 2021 when we sold a 1981 Ford Escort Ghia, formerly owned by Princess Diana, for over £50,000. Click here to read more about our Classic Car department.

Timed Auctions

In a timed online auction, there is no auctioneer taking bids from a live audience in a room. Instead, each lot can be bid on for a defined period of time. Bids are placed online. At the end of the period, the bidder who has submitted the highest bid wins the lot, provided the bid exceeds the reserve price. Timed auctions can typically last for up to a week or two. All timed auctions have an end-time displayed on the lot page. You can bid at any point from when the auction opens to when it closes.
