Reeman Dansie is pleased to present the catalogue for the August Antiques & Fine Art sale, with almost 1200 lots to be sold over the course of two days.

The sale begins with ceramics and glassware, with the usual range of English, continental and Asian works. Silver will follow, where highlights include a fine quality William IV Paul Storr tea kettle on stand (lot 150, £4000-£6000).

A choice selection of jewellery and watches will be sold next, with some exceptional pieces on offer, not least a fine quality 19th century Renaissance Revival pink sapphire, pearl and diamond pendant / brooch in the style of Carlo Giuliano (lot 360, £6000-£8000).

The day will conclude with a bumper clocks and barometers section, which features a fine single-owner collection of barographs and other instruments, to be sold alongside early lantern clocks, Georgian bracket clocks, and many others.

Day two of the sale will start with Works of Art, to include the first part of the diverse collection of the world’s best-selling horticultural writer, Dr. D. G. Hessayon (1928-2025). Shells, fossils, coins, Native American artefacts and other items from his beautiful country house will be sold over the course of several sales.

The Sporting & Wildlife section includes a good selection of taxidermy, pictures, sculptures, books, and hunting-related items. A set of four oils on canvas of ‘A Hunting Day’ by David Dalby of York (1780-1849) features prominently (lot 999, £6000-8000).

A good selection of 150 pictures will follow, with everything from Old Masters to contemporary works on offer; artists represented include L.S. Lowry, Dame Elisabeth Frink, and Arthur Rackham.

The sale will conclude with furniture and rugs; once again a wide selection of pieces can be found to suit all tastes, from 16th century tapestries to garden urns.

We look forward to welcoming you to the sale, whether you’ll be bidding online or in the room.
