Jewellery features in each of our tiered sales, with 200-300 lots of Fine antique and contemporary jewellery in each of our bi-monthly Fine Art sales. Our quarterly collector’s sales feature a similar number or lots of costume and dress jewellery and we also include a range of jewellery in our General sales. Jewellery at auction is often very good value when considered against retail prices and our jewellery counter is frequently the busiest area of our saleroom on viewing days.
Our Jewellery department is headed by Marc Winter who has extensive experience in this field. He is a R.I.C.S. qualified valuer and happy to provide free valuations for clients considering an auction sale, we can also provide formal valuations for probate, insurance or family division. All valuations are handled with sensitivity and complete discretion and can be undertaken either at our offices or in the privacy of the client’s home. If jewellery is held at a secure premises, for example a bank, we are happy to arrange a visit.
We pride ourselves on our presentation of the jewellery for the catalogues and the internet. Our jewellery lots are extensively described and each lot illustrated with multiple images taken by a professional photographer. This provides our online bidders from around the world with sufficient details to engage in our auctions without needing to attend the saleroom. We have an extremely high success rate, with our jewellery auctions typically selling 95% of lots offered, many of which exceed the estimate.
