An Important 1940/1950s autographed photograph and scrap album belonging to Mr Ernest Bennett , the Butler to the Governor General of Canada - Major General The Honourable The Earl of Athlone and H.R.H. Princess Alice Countess of Athlone and later Page to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II - the album containing a signed portrait of H.M. Queen Mary, a signed portrait of King George V (signed in rememberance by Queen Mary), signed portrait of the Duchess of Devonshire, numerous signed portraits of the Earl and Countess of Athlone, Lady May and Henry Abel Smith, fine signed wartime portrait of H.R.H. Prince George Duke of Kent dated 1941 and another of the Duke seated with the Earl of Athlone signed by them both and dated July 30th 1941, signed Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands, signed King George of Greece dated July 4th 1942, fine wartime signed portraits of President Roosevelt dated Ottawa 1943 and Mrs Roosevelt ,signed portrait of General Smuts, signed portrait of the Canadian Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King dated Ottawa July 1st 1945, signed portrait of Princess Marina Duchess of Kent dated 1947 and signed by Cecil Beaton, numerous other Royal photographs including 1940s portraits of Princess Elizabeth, Mr Ernest Bennetts invitation to the 1953 Coronation, ephemera regarding the funeral of The Earl of Athlone - The album 38 x 27cm quarter calf and cloth bound

Absentee Bidding
For clients unable or not wishing to attend our sale we are happy to accept absentee bids. Absentee bids can either be left in person with our office team, phoned or emailed to us. We simply require lot numbers and descriptions and the maximum bid which you wish to leave. Absentee bids are then transferred to our auction pages and the auctioneer will bid on your behalf. If the lot can be purchased at a lower price than your maximum bid our auctioneers will always endeavour to work in your interest to purchase the lot for you as cheaply as other bids will allow. If the same bid is left by two people on a lot we will precedence to the bidder who leaves the bid first.
We are happy to provide condition reports for online and absentee bidders and to supply additional photographs on any lot. We ask that condition report requests are submitted at least 24 hours prior to the sale. (Whilst every care is taken to give an accurate condition report, we accept no responsibility for any omissions or errors in our reports. It is the buyer’s responsibility to view the lots and satisfy themselves as to their condition.)
Telephone Bidding
We are happy to accept phone bids for our Fine Art and Collectors’ sales. Phone bids may be arranged in person with our office team, by phone or by email. We simply require the lot number and details of the lots which you wish to bid on and contact phone number / numbers. Our phone bidders will call in advance of your chosen lot / lots and bid on your behalf during the sale.
Telephone bids must be booked by 4pm the day before the sale but can be arranged earlier, we have limited lines and certain lots can be over-subscribed for phone bidding, in such instances we conduct a first come, first served basis and we encourage clients to book well in advance or risk being disappointed.

Please note that the sale of the items listed does not amount to an assignment of or licence to the purchaser of the copyright in that item. No rights of reproduction in whole or in part are guaranteed by any sale unless specifically noted in the catalogue description.
It can be assumed that most post 1960 Royal signatures on greeting cards and other documents are probably by autopen and it is up to the purchaser to satisfy themselves as to whether this is the case before the sale.
Storage charges:- Please note that all lots of furniture, garden statues and rugs will only be available for collection at our premises until 12pm on Tuesday 26th November. After which all items of furniture will be collected by R & D Schofield Removals at a cost of per lot of £10 + vat and £1 per day storage thereafter
