Who’s a Pretty Boy? – for the bird fanciers amongst you, lot 140 is a delightful, late 19th/early 20th century porcelain life-size green parrot, mounted on a brass swing, and would look fabulous in an orangery or conservatory – charming and slightly kitsch!
Rhubarb and Custard – Lot 1486 is a very large and impressive painted and emblazoned glass Rhubarb apothecary jar and cover, signed Maw & Son. London.
By contrast, the smaller lot 4, a rare Staffordshire caneware custard set, circa 1800, comprising tray and six cups, is decorated with a strikingly contemporary-looking lozenge pattern, painted in blue enamel, and would elevate the simplest of puddings.
Have a Whale of a Time – Essex sculptor Guy Taplin’s imposing sculpture, Lot 1032, Whale Fluke, painted wood, signed and titled, would make a stunning statement piece.
Saturday 21st June 10am - 1pm at Esplanade Hall, Kings Quay Street, Harwich CO12 3ES.
