We are excited to present our first Fine Art sale of the summer. Showcasing nearly 1500 lots over two balmy days on the 1st and 2nd of July.
This auction features almost 200 lots of Royal memorabilia including the Admiral of the Fleet, The Lord Lewin Collection, comprising gifts, letters and ephemera from the Royal family and leading State figures during his illustrious naval career which included Commander of the Royal Yacht Britannia and Commander in Chief during the Falklands Conflict, lot 46 is a pair of gold and enamel cufflinks awarded to Lord Lewin by Her Majesty when he was Commander of the Royal Yacht 1957-58.
Our ceramics section includes lot 222 an exceptionally rare pair of Italian Vezzi porcelain chocolate beakers, these are incredibly early examples of European porcelain production, dating to the 1720s when Vezzi became only the third European factory to discover the technique of hard paste porcelain production, only around 200 examples are known to exist.
A freshly discovered letter from Lord Byron (lot 916) features in our wonderfully diverse Works of Art section, which also includes further historic playing cards from the Christopher Rayner collection.
Lot 1206 is an historic depiction of a three masted East Indiaman depicted in three positions, by the important marine artist John Cleverly (1712-1777), estimated at £20,000-30,000. The 300 lot picture section also includes the highly anticipated fresh offering from the Estate of Francis Plummer (1930-2019).
A wonderful collection of paintings and furniture is offered from Terwick Hill House in Rogate, Surrey, including lot 1453, a stunning Queen Anne figured walnut bureau bookcase at a teasing £1500-2500 estimate.
Viewing of this sale is highly recommended and is open on Friday 27th June from 1pm-5pm, Saturday 28th from 9am-1pm, and Monday 30th 9am-6pm. The sale commences on Tuesday 1st July at 10am.
