In original fitted tooled red leather case by Carrington & Co., 130 Regent Street, W.

Sold for £37,000

Condition Report

The principal sapphire measures approximately 11.25mm x 9.10mm x 9.55mm. The pear cut sapphire measures approximately 9.6mm x 7.6mm x 5.95mm. The sapphires have very minor abrasions. The pear cut sapphire has a minute chip/natural inclusion on the edge of the stone under the setting but the setting limits further inspection. The oval sapphire has a 'feather' inclusion difficult to see with the naked eye, no obvious zoning. The sapphires have not been tested for origin and are potentially Ceylon sapphires, the necklace was made/supplied by Carringtons, Court jewellers to the Royal Family. The necklace is in excellent condition commensurate with age. Appears to have hardly been worn. The length of the necklace is approximately 39.5cm and the original fitted box contains a few lengths of extra/spare links. Setting is not hallmarked and presumed to be platinum. The necklace was purchased new from Carringtons by the previous family who owned the necklace and they had owned it for approximately 70-80 years. It has subsequently been in private ownership by the current vendor for the last nine years where it was purchased from these rooms. Gross weight of the necklace is approximately 16.5 grams. The box is also in excellent condition commensurate with age.
