1988 Mercedes-Benz 500 SEC Coupe. reg no. E812 MUW.

1988 Mercedes-Benz 500 SEC Coupe. reg no. E812 MUW, family owned from new, (5 registered keepers) and approx. 93,254 miles from new with history.

This attractive Mercedes Coupe was purchased new by the vendor's father in 1988. He had it finished in a very desirable specification of dark blue with cream hide upholstery. He had the car well maintained by Mercedes' main agents and in later years used Derek Wells Mercedes Specialists in Needham Market, Suffolk. In more recent years, the car was laid up, and after his death, his daughter instructed Derek Wells to recommission it for her personal use. Between 2019-2022, there are various invoices for this work from Derek Wells totalling approximately £16,000, and from completion of the work, an extra 10,000 miles has been covered during her ownership. In recent months, the vendor's beloved Mercedes has been in dry storage, and reluctantly owing to her emigrating in the near future, she has decided to sell it. The overall condition is very good, and it is running and driving, although there is scope for further improvement. In particular to the chrome work and refinishing of the wheels. It is rare to find a 500 SEC with relatively low miles and only two owners, and particularly one which has had so much money lavished upon it and with such a good provenance. It is supplied with V5, handbook, stamped service book, various invoices and related ephemera. (Subject to 12% buyers' premium inclusive of VAT). Please see condition report for further information:

Sold for £8,000

Condition Report

Since the printed catalogue was published we have obtained the full documentation for the car which was held by the owner, the V5 is showing 4 former keepers (5 owners total). The owner has provided us with the following explanation.

“My father was involved in a lengthy litigation regarding his previous business. The vehicle was signed over to an Insolvency Company, it was then popped back under my father, it then reverted to the Insolvency Company, the matter was then resolved and put back under us. In all of that time, the vehicle remained with my father. “

Therefore whilst the car has been in her family from new it is not a 2 owner car as previously stated.

In addition we can confirm the following entries in the service book…

10/7/90- 8,711 miles
