The King’s Christmas Message

The King’s Christmas Message

Lot 150 in our Fine Art sale on the 9th and 10th of June is a wonderfully evocative collection of private correspondence from the Royal family and includes a special note from our King, His Majesty Charles III.

The collection comes from the late Mr Peter Stewart, who was the Secretary of The Carlton Club, the famous London Gentleman’s club, and was for many years a confidante of the Royal Family. He was a friend of King George VI and was held in high esteem by Queen Mary, Princess Elizabeth and later as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, with whom he often socialised and was a frequent visitor to Clarence House.

Amongst the correspondence, which includes letters to Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Queen Mary and others, is a note from a very young Prince Charles addressed to Father Christmas, requesting a Jemima Puddleduck and a fort, it’s not known whether his Christmas wishes were fulfilled. Collectors can acquire this charming piece of Royal history and the large collection of personal letters and related items on Tuesday the 9th of June, the lot is guided at £10,000-15,000.
